Game Concept -- KIT109 AT2
CyberJump » Devlog
OVERVIEW:
- Working title - CyberJump
- Concept Statement:
- CyberJump is a platformer with gameplay elements taken from popular games such as Mario and Metroid where the player traverses the level dodging and defeating enemies while also collecting a score to beat.
- Genre/category:
- Platformer, Shooter, Cyberpunk.
- Concept creation:
- The concept of this game came through an interest in the cyberpunk aesthetic, the art that will be used is taken from a free asset pack taken from https://ansimuz.itch.io/warped-city. To get to this game idea I went through many different styles of games that I had an interest in, a lot were just too big for the amount of time I have left after doing the practicals and thinking up a final idea. The original idea was a top down shooter game similar to Hotline Miami but that would require a fair amount of work and more time, another idea was a dungeon crawler game set in a medieval setting but again, that seemed like there would be time constraints. Finally settled upon a platformer game based off of metroid games and mario where the player collects a score while combating enemies
- Audience and competitive analysis:
- The audience for this game is anyone as the controls and gameplay are simple enough to learn (walk, jump, shoot, etc.) its mainly speaks to those who like platformers and are big fans of a cyberpunk setting as those are the two main visuals in the game. Other games similar to this would be metroidvanias and classic mario games where the purpose of the game is to get from one end to the other while getting a score through enemies and pickups so the competition in the market doesn't really exist.
- Concept art:
- This artwork is not mine, it was taken from the same place the sprites and assets came from, it is just an example.
